Replit rescue

    Fix a Broken Replit App

Replit is a genuinely good place to build and iterate. It's a different environment from wherever your app actually needs to run in production — and that gap is where most "it worked yesterday" bugs come from.

    What's actually going wrong

The specific symptoms we see most often.

    Won't deploy to production

Replit Deployments or an exported build fails outside the workspace, often over a build command, port binding, or missing environment variable Replit was handling implicitly.

    Database connection issues outside Replit

A database that connected fine inside the Replit workspace refuses connections from your real host — usually an IP allowlist or connection string difference.

App stuck behaving like a sandbox, not a product

Assumptions about the Replit filesystem, always-on state, or a single shared instance don't hold once the app needs to run reliably for real users.

Secrets and environment variables don't carry over

Replit's built-in Secrets manager doesn't automatically become your production host's environment variables — a common cause of an app that "was working right there in Replit."

Slower or less stable once traffic grows

Code written for quick iteration inside Replit rarely has the caching, connection pooling, or error handling a production workload needs.

    Why this happens

Replit is designed as a build environment first — instant, collaborative, forgiving. None of that is meant to be a production runtime, even though it's tempting to point a domain straight at it. The moment real traffic, a real database connection limit, or a real uptime expectation shows up, gaps that never mattered during development start to matter a lot.

Fixing it is usually a matter of making the implicit explicit: real environment variables, a real database connection pool, and a deploy target actually built for production traffic.

    What we do about it

    1

Diagnose against your real target environment

We reproduce the failure outside Replit so the fix addresses production reality, not just the workspace.

    2

    Migrate secrets and config properly

Replit Secrets mapped to real environment variables on whatever host you choose to run on.

    3

    Fix database and connection handling

Connection strings, pooling, and allowlists corrected for a host that isn't Replit's shared infrastructure.

    4

Recommend and set up a production-grade host

If Replit Deployments isn't the right fit long-term, we help you move to one that is — without a rebuild.

Code Audit from $199, Fix Sprint from $600

Most Replit production issues are configuration, not code — which usually means a faster and cheaper fix than a rebuild.

Audit in 48 hours; fixes typically ship within a week
